Aloo matar is an very famous punjabi style gravy which tastes great with any indian bread or can also be served with rice. potato and peas goes very well to make a side dish and this traditional side dish is perfect to go with any bread. When I think about aloo matar the first thing coming to my mind is the Hawkins pressure cooker ad which i loved to watch in my childhood..It was a Succulent mouthwatering aloo matar and carrot halwa made in hawkins cooker,I drool anytime I watch that ad. Coming to aloo matar I have tried many versions of aloo matar in resturants and dhabas mostly every recipe call’s for onion and garlic. As am a from a jain family we do eat no garlic no onion side dishes some times so Made this delicious aloo matar with no onion no garlic.
Aloo matar in tomato base gravy and no cream or any fat used to make it super rich but still it taste very delicious and makes a luscious gravy to go with Indian breads. This was my H’s lunch today and he loves this gravy a lot. Am sure all jains/ brahmins who strictly follow no onion no garlic meal they will love this gravy. Lets move to the recipe quickly ..Check out the Blogging Marathon page for the other Blogging Marathoners doing BM#45.
