Tawa pulao is a easy to make scrumptious variety rice which is most popular street of Mumbai , as the name suggest it is generally made on tawa but I used a wide pan as I didn’t have a wide tawa to make them. As you know the very famous street food Pav bhaji is also made in huge tawa.This a quick rice variety you can make any time and enjoy 🙂 The key ingredient used in this rice preparation is the pava bhaji masala , You can add more or less as you like the spice level I usually like this pulao spicy. This pulao goes well as is with chopped onion and lemon squeezed on top but can also accompany it with yogurt/ raita. You can include the vegetables as you like here I used beans, Carrot, capsicum and peas. some like to add potatoes to this rice too but i skipped it.Some really think pulao should be plain white but this a spicy pulao remember it is better to remain red hot 😉 ..Lets quickly move on to the recipe to make these spicy pulao..

- Cook basmati separately in a rice cooker or on gas stop. Fluff them with fork and let it cool a bit.
- In a sauce pan heat oil , add cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.
- Add the ginger garlic paste, onion and saute the till the onion turn translucent.
- Add the green chillies , tomatoes and saute them till they turn mushy.
- Add the chopped vegetables and saute them till they are cooked.
- Add red chilli pd, turmeric pd, coriander pd, cumin pd, pav bhaji and salt
- Sprinkle a little water and mix them well till combined
- Mix in the fluffed rice and mix them well till all the masalas is coated in the rice and they are well combined.
- Squeeze few drops of lemon juice and serve them hot with chopped coriander leaves and onion garnished on top.
